The Temple of the Sea Born is a neo-pagan community serving Delaware, south Jersey, northern Maryland, and eastern Pennsylvania. The community uses a religious and spiritual framework for its working that honors the deities and practices of ancient Greece and the Mediterranean. Nevertheless, we welcome those from varying practices that are interested in being part of a community that supports and nurtures each other.
The temple actively celebrates the festivals and adherences of the ancient Mediterranean. We also celebrate the more familiar Wheel of the Year to come closer to nature as well as meet the needs of our members who are from those traditions who honor the turning of the wheel. Our members participate in magickal working in the home as well as in the group. The temple is also a place of scholarship and learning.
The temple and its members also seek to integrate spiritual practice into daily life. Instead of coming together only for festivals and celebrations as a group, or only doing magick on occasion as a solitary entity, we strive to foster a commitment to a spiritual connection that is there with us on a more regular basis.
Finally, the temple embraces the energy of being close to one another in physical form. Another way of saying that is that we meet in person. Although we have members who can’t leave their homes for certain reasons and a few of our members have moved farther from our physical base, we believe that the importance of bringing energies together in the real world, instead of a cyber world, can’t be underestimated. Whether we are celebrating the Eleusinian mysteries with a grand ceremony, doing group energy raising and magick working, or just getting together at a winery to drink a toast to Dionysus and laugh amongst friends, we believe that no virtual platform exists that can take the place of energies coming together in the real world.
The Temple of the Sea Born is open to anyone who feels called by our core values and connects with the energy of our community and practices. We do not discriminate based on race, color, age, gender, sexual orientation, current or past religious experience, political beliefs, or personal philosophies. The only thing we ask of our members is that you actively seek to raise the energy of the group and are respectful of everyone while keeping an open heart and mind in all that you do within the organization.
We hope you’ll join us on this incredible journey!
